1. Dishoom
If you follow us on Instagram (which you should!) you would have seen our recent post about Dishoom’s breakfast/brunch menu. Taking the Irani cafés of Bombay as its source of inspiration, this chain has become world-famous since opening in 2010, and their breakfasts have a lot to do with that. Their dedicated vegan menu includes items like The Vegan Bombay (a Dishoom take on an English breakfast), Vegan Sausage Naan Roll, Vegan Akuri (tofu scramble w homemade buns), plus much more. Don’t miss their beautifully spiced Oat Milk Chai.
Where: Central London locations include Carnaby: 22 Kingly St, Carnaby, London W1B 5QP and Covent Garden: 12 Upper St Martin's Ln, London WC2H 9FB. Note: Dishoom and Dishoom ‘Permit Rooms’ have multiple branches across London and further afield across the UK.
Details: Served from 8am to 11.45am on weekdays, and 9am to 11.45am on weekends.
2. Mildreds
Mildreds is a stalwart of the London vegan scene and often the place you turn to when you’re heading into town. It’s comforting and dependable, and with its fully plant-based menu you will always have plenty of options to choose from. For a savoury brunch you can opt for a full English or if you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth make a beeline for the banana Biscoff caramel pancakes.

Details: Breakfast served weekdays until 11am; Weekend Brunch served until 3pm
3. Jikoni
Celebrating the flavours of Britain’s immigrant cuisines, Jikoni takes inspiration from South Asia, Far East Asia, the Middle East, East Africa and the UK to serve up dishes that are vibrant and multi-layered. Their weekend brunch menu is no exception, with plant-based options including Buckwheat Dosa (with pumpkin thoran, coconut & Garlic Chutney), Khichdi (with devilled cashew nuts, carrot achaar, papad) and their pineapple & lime leaf cake with custard. They also serve a selection of delicious alcoholic & non-alcoholic cocktails for brunch.

Details: Brunch served only on weekends, 11am-3pm
4. The Black Penny
This trusty café is a great option to have up your sleeve when in and around Covent Garden. It seems quite small from the outside but in the back they have a bright and airy seating area. On sunny days the tables outside are also great for people watching. They serve up breakfast classics on weekdays and weekends including their plant-based ‘The Forager’ dish which consists of sourdough toast, spinach, roasted tomatoes, Black Penny beans, butterbean hummus and a tomato, parsley and onion salad.

5. KIN Café
Tucked away on a quiet street in Fitzrovia you’ll find the cosy KIN Café. Offering a range of vegetarian and vegan dishes, you’ll find everything from an açai bowl and porridge to waffles and burritos. They also serve a couple of weekend brunch exclusives: the KIN Weekend Deluxe and the KIN Benedict. If you still fancy a treat after they also have a selection of vegan baked goods on the counter.
